“Built for the player.”®

Steve Bell, Jr. is a second-generation instrument repair technician who grew up in the family shop alongside his father, Steve Bell, Sr. Together, they built a respected school music business serving more than sixty school programs across North Texas. From an early age, Steve developed a deep appreciation for the mechanics and soul of fine instruments—a passion that continues to guide his work today.

As founder of Bell Trumpets, Steve set out to create instruments that reflect each player’s unique voice—combining artistry, engineering, and collaboration. That same vision now expands with Bell Trombones, marking the next evolution in Bell’s pursuit of precision craftsmanship across the brass family. Drawing on years of performance experience and hands-on design, Steve leads every project with one goal: to build instruments that respond intuitively, inspire confidence, and elevate the player’s craft.

Bell Trumpets and Bell Trombones operate as an extension of the family’s long-standing business, Bell’s Music Shop—an authorized dealer representing premier brands including Bach–Conn-Selmer, Yamaha, Shires Q–Eastman, B&S–Buffet–Crampon, Getzen, Jupiter–KHS America, Gard Bags, Greg Black, CarolBrass–Hoxon, Bam, Protec, Torpedo, and more. Through these partnerships and his own custom work, Steve remains committed to helping musicians find exactly what they need—with honesty, integrity, and the same small-town service that built his family’s reputation.

Inspired by master builders such as Andy Taylor (Taylor Trumpets, UK), Domenico Calicchio (Calicchio Trumpets), and Vincent Bach (Bach), Steve continues to refine his craft. In 2023, he traveled to England to train alongside Andy Taylor and the Taylor Trumpets team, gaining hands-on experience in custom fabrication and traditional bell making—a milestone that helped shape the techniques now used in Bell’s growing line of handcrafted instruments.

Outside the workshop, Steve cherishes time with his wife, Michelle (“Sweetness”), and their four children—Austin, Claire, Brody, and Jillian—along with their two loyal dogs, Hank and Finley. He enjoys smoking BBQ, playing music with his band ATR, camping in the mountains, kayaking, fishing, fast cars, live shows, and laughing with family and friends. Above all, Steve strives to live with gratitude, give thanks to the Lord, and be the best husband and father he can be.

A Personal Message from Steve
“I am truly blessed—with good health, the support of our family business, a beautiful family, amazing friends, and kiddos who want to share this journey with me. Most of all, I am thankful for the love of my life, Michelle (‘Sweetness’), who supports me in every step of this adventure. To my Pop—my example and teacher—you’re the best in my eyes, and I’m grateful for all you’ve given me. And to Mom, none of this would have been possible without your love and support. Thank you both for everything.”
